Rock, Paper, Ingredient

Rock, Paper, Scissors? Rock crushes scissors, scissors cut paper, paper smothers rock! Nay...

Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock? Scissors cut paper, paper covers rock, rock crushes lizard, lizard poisons Spock, Spock smashes scissors, scissors decapitate lizard, lizard eats paper, paper disproves Spock, Spock vaporizes rock and, as it’s always been, rock crushes scissors. Nope... (but you get bonus points if you can tell us where this fantastically amusing version of the game comes from)...

Rock Paper, Ingredient! Paper smothers rock, Rock smothers paper, Ingredient rules. Oh yes.

They say that great minds think alike. Using that same theory, does that mean great chefs cook alike? Probably not; however, in this periodic endeavor on our blog two fearless competitors will square off in a battle of epic proportions...to the death. Yes, I am talking about a centuries old test of wit -- the rock, paper, scissors challenge. One will stand victorious; the other will look to the heavens and shout, "why me!?" But in the animal kingdom, that's what you get for choosing paper.

Assuming the victor is a complete jackass - which both of us are - they will likely proceed to do the victory dance. A glorious dance that involves weird gyrations and excessive finger pointing in the direction of the loser non-winner. The victor's dance is short however, because they know the true test of strength, honour, and integrity is about to begin. Ingredients have to be chosen, children recklessly pushing carts have to be pushed down, specialty stores containing ingredients you can't pronounce have to be conquered, and ovens have to be pre-heated.

Okay, maybe its not that epic. Nor, is it that competitive. Besides, they have laws against battles to the death now. Regardless, it is a brilliant idea to try out new ingredients that may have scared off the weaker, less adventurous cooks. On the other hand, it can also be a fun way to rethink common ingredients. Without further ado, thy rules hath been stated:
  1. A simple game of rock, paper, scissors (but for the love of God, state the rules before you commence this test of wit. Is it one pump, two pump, then your choice? [that's what she said!]; Or is it one pump, two pump, three pump, then your choice? [again, I say, that's what she said!]; Is it best of three, or winner takes all? I don't know if anyone has noticed, but the rock and a fist are eerily similar. So to avoid violence and bloodshed state the rules.
  2. Once victorious, the victor then chooses an ingredient.
  3.  The victor then selects a deadline (a minimum of one week because we sorta, kinda, almost have lives).
  4. The epic food battle commences.
